Monday Musing

This past Friday morning, I had the opportunity to partake in what my older son refers to as "Hippy VooDoo Bullshit".

I took a workshop to learn more about Yogic Chakras.

I may or may not choose to share some of the very interesting things I (that are truly applicable to one and all). Right now, I'm just keeping them for myself.

What I will share is this - the reading which finished off our morning of practice.

It is by the author John O'Donohue, from his book 'Anam Cara'. It is entitled, "The Blessing of Solitude".

The Blessing of Solitude

May you recognize in your life the presence, power and light
of your soul
May you realize that you are never alone,
that your soul in its brightness and belonging connects you
intimately with the rhythm of the universe.
May you have respect for your own individuality and
difference.
May you realize that the shape of your soul is unique, that
you have a special destiny here,
That behind the facade of your life there is something
beautiful, good, and eternal happening.
May you learn to see yourself with the same delight, pride,
and expectation with which God sees you in every moment.

Countess Re: All this metaphor with power and light certainly must have some significance to you - how apt a description of who you are!!

Countess MPM: Who you callin' hippy?
;) I am so grateful that I got more of a chance to see your luminous, unique soul this past trip. You are
magnificent.

Ohhhh... this is the perfect way to begin a Monday. John O'Donohue is one of my favorites; his poem "Beannacht" is one I carry with me everywhere I go.

Thanks for sharing this one with us...

Countess Ti: There are just so many elements of this piece that I love:
'that the shape of your soul is unique'...'that behind the facade of your life'...

So evocative. I do believe I will get me to a library to be going down the O'Donohue rabbit hole.

Hippy VooDoo? I love Hippy VooDoo.

I love you too. Now I sound like the Barney song. *sigh*

I love your hippy voo doo bullshit. And if this poem is an example of it, now I love it even more! "The shape of your soul"... how moving.

Here's to your chakras!

Countess TNA: A little secret? I loved the Barney songs when the boys were little. Maybe even more than they did. Kinda white-bread cheesy, but we both know - there is NOTHING wrong with cheese (and macaroni...)

Countess Diane: I love that line. It has such a resonance. Here's to OUR chakras - and thanks so much for the advice about the tuning crystals - damn near broke my ankle!! xoxox
